Narration Narration Narration!!!

So after thinking a lot about the narration in my story, I realized that the reason I feel so drawn to a 1st person narrator is because I've written such a close 3rd, that it really is being told in the 1st person-just without the I's and Me's. And after looking more closely at my original draft of the Book 1 and talking to a friend who thinks that draft 1 is the best thing she's ever read (man I love her!) I think that my own voice, the voice of the narrator has kind of stepped aside and allowed Lilliana to really take over the show.

At this point, I feel that a 3rd person narrator is the right choice, no changes there. But I think that I'm going to try and take a step back so that we are not SO completely inside my main character's head and there is a little more direction in the story. So now I feel like Im a little back to the drawing board.

  1. It sounds like you are kicking ass with your writing. You are inspiring me to get back to a long abandoned story I slaved away on years ago. Do you find you can't read your favorite authors as much? I found that I was starting to write like them and it wasn't a good thing.

  2. Thanks Tami! I'm glad to hear it-always a good thing to get back into a story. No, I can read my favorite authors, its important I stay in my genre though. If I read too much outside of my genre, then I start getting ideas for like ways to things in that don't belong there.
