Hanging Out With Gayle Forman--Day 24

I totally meant to blog last night...but I was Le Tired! So I'm blogging now.

Gayle Forman, my CP Donna Gambale, ME, and my CP Sara DeSabato at Children's Book World

So last night was basically amazing! Actually a lot of yesterday was amazing.

First of all...we got the news that Janine, our fourth and quietest critique group member gave birth to her first child! We now have a new beautiful baby boy to obsess over and love and drag to writing retreats and author events. Sara's own baby boy was with us last night being as adorable as ever.

Second...some things began to come together for another YA Writing event I have up my sleeves. I'l have more info on that soon as details become concrete. But I'm very excited.

Third...GAYLE FORMAN!

Gayle and I (a little blurry)

So Gayle Forman who is one of my all time favorite authors, who has written two of my all time favorite books (probably 3, but I haven't gotten there yet), and is just an all around amazing person, was in town at Children's Book World (my FAVORITE) for her Just One Day Tour!

Hearing Gayle talk about her travels and inspirations for Just One Day and read excerpts from the book was so inspiring and invigorating. I'll never get over her ability to take the simplest most mundane moments in life and turn them into something that feels epic, and personal and life changing. In the hands of another author, many of her scenes wouldn't work, but Gayle just has this way with words that I love, and this ability to make you care SO much about her characters.

After her talk and reading I got to hang out some more with the amazing staff at Children's Book World (seriously I love them) and catch up a little with blogger extraordinaire Jamie of  Perpetual Page Turner, and authors Tiffany Schmidt, and K.M. Walton,. Then I got to talk to Gayle for a bit, which is the best, because every time we talk she manages to give some kind of priceless gem of writing advice and I always feel like I remember why I love writing so much.

If you have a chance to see her on tour, go do it!

So now I have officially 7 days left to blog daily and finish my WIP! EEEK!

*runs back to write*
