About Me

I originally started blogging in 2008 when I left the country to spend the summer studying creative writing in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh (and  stalk make pilgrimages to the places where J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter).

Originally the blog was to help me keep track of my Scottish adventures and assure my mom I was still alive (this required blogging every single day). But it soon became a blogging obsession and I've been blogging my journey ever since.

I teach creative writing, composition and children's literature at Arcadia University, and I'm a regular presenter at the Musehouse Center for Literary Arts. I also run a small children's library and teach belly dance classes for fun.

I graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a BA in Religious Studies and Psychology and I earned my MA in English from Arcadia University in 2009.  At Arcadia, I met my critique group in a Writing for Children class, and the four of us now blog together at The First Novels Club.

I'm repped by Laura Rennert of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.

And I'm vegan.

No, really.
